Marie is na het overlijden van haar man Matthew, samen met haar dochter Matilda bij haar ouders in gaan wonen.

Matt was my Grandma Marie’s first husband.
He was an electric linesman and was killed in a tragic electrocution accident essentially while my grandmother was in the hospital giving birth to their daughter.
My grandma dissociated because of the grief in the hospital so the nuns who ran it at the time were certain that they were going to be adopting and raising the baby themselves. Therefore, they named her Mattie.
Then suddenly my grandma came around and went home with her baby.
Some years after that she met and married my grandpa Harry.
They had two sons together, my uncle Jim who passed many years ago and then my father 11 months later.
